Mayor of Tool

Mike Dumont was sworn into office as the Mayor of Tool on November 16, 2023. He ran unopposed for the position of Mayor and has served the City of Tool as a City Councilman and Mayor Pro Tem since 2019. 

Mike was born and raised in Owensboro, Kentucky. As a young boy, Mike worked odd jobs and learned the value of hard work. He graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1976 with a Business Degree and immediately began his 42-year career with Congoleum Corporation Mike retired from Congoleum on September 1, 2018. Prior to retiring, he began to volunteer for the Community Food Pantry in Tool. He continues to volunteer for the Pantry while serving as a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club of Cedar Creek, Cedar Creek Parrot Head Club and other nonprofit organizations supporting the Cedar Creek Lake area. In addition, Mike is a member of the newly established Cedar Creek Lake Mayor Coalition which focuses on common issue resolution for our Lake community. 


At this time, Mike’s City priorities include budget management, completing the Eight at Tool City Park, building a new City Hall, continuing efforts for street maintenance, the addition of a warning system for the City, increased development of business in Tool with a goal of keeping taxes from skyrocketing. 


He has been successful in implementing key efforts and community partnerships to bolster the City of Tool’s development, improving public safety, driving the creation and completion of the Eight at Tool City Park, with a clear focus on improving the overall quality of life for all residents. Understanding that strong public safety is the foundation of any successful city, Mike has worked to champion increases in the number of police officers as well as a significant improvement in communication & equipment upgrades. He works with Councilmembers and City Management to focus the city budget on improved services that have the greatest impact on residents’ daily lives. Leading with fairness and honesty while supporting the City employees, Mike continues to serve Tool with pride.
