The City of Tool is a Type “A” General Law municipality consisting of a Mayor and five City Council members. Regular City Council meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month at 6:00 pm at the Oran White Civic. See the City of Tool Calendar to view all regularly scheduled meetings.

The City of Tool borders the beautiful East Texas lake with about 14.5 miles of shore line. This beautiful lake area offers majestic views, ideal fishing atmospheres, relaxing ambiance, and breath taking sunsets. The City of Tool rests in Henderson County with a population of 2,275 as of the 2000 census..

Tax Rate Notice

THIS BUDGET WILL RAISE MORE TOTAL PROPERTY TAXES THAN LAST YEAR'S BUDGET BY $4,177 (0.4917%), AND OF THAT AMOUNT, $10,618 IS TAX REVENUE TO BE RAISED FROM NEW PROPERTY ADDED TO THE TAX ROLL THIS YEAR.

"THE CITY OF TOOL ADOPTED A TAX RATE THAT WILL NOT RAISE MORE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS THAN LAST YEAR'S TAX RATE." AND "THE TAX RATE WILL EFFECTIVELY NOT BE RAISED AND WILL NOT INCREASE TAXES FOR MAINTENANCE AND OPERATIONS."
